Published for the American Educational Research Association by Routledge. The Handbook of Complementary Methods in Education Research is a successor volume to AERA's earlier and highly acclaimed editions of Complementary Methods for Research in Education. More than any book to date (including its predecessors), this new volume brings together the wide range of research methods used to study education and makes the logic of inquiry for each method clear and accessible. Each method is described in detail, including its history, its research design, the questions that it addresses, ways of using the method, and ways of analyzing and reporting outcomes. Key features of this indispensable book include the following: Foundations Section-Part I is unique among research books. Its three chapters examine common philosophical, epistemological, and ethical issues facing researchers from all traditions, and frames ways of understanding the similarities and differences among traditions. Ada tiga hal yang sangat penting berkaitan dengan pembangunan ekonomi, yaitu :Pembangunan sebagai suatu proses Yang berarti bahwa pembangunan adalah suatu tahap yang harus dijalani dan dilalui oleh setiap masyarakat atau bangsa. Contohnya : manusia sejak lahir tidak akan langsung menjadi besar, akan tetapi untuk menjadi besar banyak tahapan pertumbuhan yang harus dilalui. Begitu juga dengan masyarakat atau penduduk suatu negara harus menjalani tahapan atau proses perkembangan agar mendapatkan kesejahteraan, kemakmuran dan ketentraman. Pembangunan sebagai suatu usaha untuk meningkatkan pendapatan perkapitaMaksudnya ialah pembangunan merupakan salah satu tindakan positif atau suatu usaha yang harus dilakukan oleh setiap negara dalam meningkatkan pendapatan perkapita. Oleh karenanya, peran serta masyarakat, pemerintah, juga semua elemen dalam suatu negara untuk berpartisipasi secara aktif dan berkonstribusi dalam sebuah proses pembangunan sangat dibutuhkan.Peningkatan pendapatan perkapita harus berlangsung dalam jangka panjang Dalam suatu perekonomian bisa dikatakan berkembang jika pendapatan perkapita dalam jangka panjang lebih cenderung meningkat. Namun bukan berarti bahwa pendapatan perkapitanya harus selalu mengalami kenaikan secara terus menerus. Contohnya, jika dalam sebuah negara terjadi suatu musibah bencana alam ataupun lainnya, maka negara tersebut akan mengalami kemunduran perekonomian. Tetapi yang terpenting adalah kegiatan atau usaha dalam mengembangkan ekonominya rata-rata selalu meningkat pada setiap tahunnya, Pembangunan ekonomi dapat dilakukan melalui penanaman modal, manajemen, penggunaan teknologi, peningkatan keterampilan, penambahan pengetahuan dan penambahan kemampuan berorganisasi. Dalam pembangunan ekonomi tidak terlepas dari pertumbuhan ekonomi atau economic growth, dimana pembangunan ekonomi mendorong adanya pertumbuhan ekonomi, juga sebaliknya, dalam pertumbuhan ekonomi dapat memperlancar suatu proses pembangunan ekonomi.
